ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead all plant operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are achieved.
- Develop, communicate, and execute operational strategies that support business objectives and customer commitments.
- Build, mentor, and develop production teams while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Human Resources to recruit, hire, onboard, and retain top talent.
- Establish clear performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and recognize employee accomplishments.
- Manage production schedules and staffing plans to optimize efficiency and meet customer demand.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, quality, and cost performance.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement process improvements, equipment upgrades, and capital investment opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Monitor production performance, analyze key metrics, and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Lead efforts to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize resource utilization.
- Oversee quality initiatives and partner with production leaders to address and prevent quality concerns.
- Support the development and maintenance of fabrication standards, drawings, templates, and production procedures.
- Manage vendor relationships and assist in evaluating supplier performance and spending opportunities.
- Work closely with procurement, maintenance, engineering, quality, and leadership teams to achieve operational objectives.
- Participate in customer visits and support efforts that strengthen customer relationships and business growth.
- Manage production expenses and contribute to budget planning and financial performance discussions.
- Ensure accurate and timely production reporting and operational communication.
- Champion a safety-first culture throughout the facility.
- Partner with the Safety Manager, Human Resources, and Plant Safety Committee to drive safety initiatives and employee engagement.
- Ensure employees are properly trained and consistently follow established safety procedures and expectations.
- Monitor safety performance and support continuous improvement efforts to reduce incidents and improve workplace safety.
- Provide leadership updates regarding safety performance, initiatives, and improvement opportunities.
- Support the development of safety goals, incentive programs, and accountability measures.
- Participate in planning discussions regarding operational investments, equipment purchases, and facility improvements.
- Collaborate with leadership to evaluate capital expenditure opportunities and make recommendations that support long-term operational success.
- Lead and develop a team of supervisors and production personnel while creating opportunities for employee growth and advancement.
- Serve as a key member of the plant leadership team, contributing to the overall success of the operation.
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PLANT MANAGER:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years of manufacturing leadership experience in a production environment.
- Experience leading teams in a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience required.
- Project management experience required.
- Epicor experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and production scheduling.
- Proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and drive operational performance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
