The Settlement Coordinator role at Zagoria Neely Injury Attorneys is critical for improving client satisfaction by managing the post-settlement process efficiently. This position ensures settlements are finalized accurately and in a timely manner, directly impacting firm operations and client outcomes. Successful execution of this role sees cases transition smoothly from settlement to final payout, reducing wait times and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
What you’ll do:
- Financial Management: Create Statements of Distribution for each case, accounting for all medical providers, lienholders, subrogation claims, and firm expenses.
- Payment Processing: Cut checks for provider payments, lien payments, and client settlements using QuickBooks, while ensuring all finances are accurately recorded.
- Lien Negotiations: Handle the negotiation of medical bill reductions, lien reductions, and subrogation resolutions to maximize client outcomes.
- Task Management: Aggressively follow up on outstanding balances and documentation, maintaining detailed notes to clearly track case statuses and progress.
- Meeting Coordination: Schedule and coordinate in-person or virtual settlement meetings with attorneys present, ensuring clear communication on timelines and logistics.
- Document Handling: Comfortable managing additional procedural requirements for special cases, such as those involving minors, including necessary court approvals.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience Required: Minimum 2+ years in post-settlement strongly preferred; adjacent billing/accounting backgrounds welcomed (medical billing a plus).
- Skilled Negotiator: Strong negotiation skills with a history of dealing with subrogation, lien resolutions, or bill reductions.
- Numerical Proficiency: High level of accuracy and comfort with financial figures, distributions, and payment calculations.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage a complex caseload independently.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, and case management software like MyCase.
- Professional Demeanor: Effective communication skills and the ability to maintain professionalism when managing client expectations.
