Description Summary:

The Risk Manager will oversee the development and execution of DC BLOX’s corporate risk management framework, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks that could impact the company’s financial performance, operations, or strategic objectives. The Risk Manager will collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, Construction, Operations, and external insurance partners to manage exposures, optimize insurance coverage, and strengthen enterprise risk practices across the organization.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

Enterprise Risk Strategy: Develop and maintain a comprehensive enterprise risk management (ERM) framework and mission statement aligned with corporate strategy. Identify, quantify, and prioritize exposures to loss, ensuring appropriate mitigation or transfer mechanisms are in place.

 

Risk Management Governance: Establish and enforce standardized policies, procedures, and contractual language related to insurance, indemnification, and risk allocation across all business units. Ensure consistent application of risk standards in alignment with corporate governance and financial policies.

 

Insurance Program Oversight: Lead the management of all property, casualty, professional, and other insurance programs. Oversee policy placement, negotiation, renewals, and claims handling. Partner with the CFO to assess cost-benefit impacts of coverage levels, limits, and deductibles.

 

Risk and Financial Analysis: Conduct financial modeling and sensitivity analyses to evaluate risk exposure and the financial impact of mitigation strategies. Prepare reports for executive leadership and the Board of Directors summarizing key risk indicators, trends, and recommendations.

 

Contract and Compliance Review: Review leases, vendor contracts, and construction agreements to ensure compliance with corporate risk and insurance standards. Provide proactive guidance to Legal and Operations to ensure adequate protection from liabilities.

 

Loss Prevention and Safety Initiatives: Collaborate with Operations and Construction to strengthen safety culture, oversee incident investigations, and develop metrics for loss prevention performance. Recommend process improvements to reduce claims frequency and severity.

 

Training and Communication: Lead internal risk management education and training sessions for managers and project teams. Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to senior leadership on emerging risks, insurance market trends, and regulatory developments.

 

Education / Training / Experience

·       Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate risk management, insurance administration, or enterprise risk oversight.

·       Experience managing or influencing cross-functional teams and external partners.

·       Strong financial acumen with ability to interpret and communicate the financial impact of risk exposures.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

·       Professional designations such as CRM, ARM, or CPCU.

·       Proven experience presenting risk assessments to senior leadership or Boards.

·       Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
