Staff UX Designer, Google Antigravity

Posted March 02, 2026

Job Overview

About the team:

The Antigravity team is at the forefront of pioneering the next generation of AI-native development experiences. We operate in a fast-paced, deeply collaborative environment, exploring novel and often ambiguous concepts around AI agents. Our mission is to redefine how developers and technical-adjacent people interact with intelligent systems. The role works in tight, iterative loops with engineering to shape fundamental interactions and build products that scale with AI’s rapidly growing intelligence.

Role Overview:

As a Staff UX Designer, you will be the design architect and visionary for the Antigravity team. This role requires more than just designing features; you will define the direction for the next generation of AI-powered tools, creating new interaction paradigms where none exist today. You will thrive in ambiguity, translating high-level, strategic bets into tangible design systems and product experiences. We are looking for someone to help us craft the next generation of AI-native products. We expect you to have a sharp pulse on how competitors are solving these problems today, using that knowledge to inform — but not limit — how we build our own unique path forward.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and own both short and long-term design vision and strategy for the Antigravity product area, establishing the design direction for the next 6-12 months and beyond.
  • Architect and establish the design language and component library for the entire AI agent ecosystem, ensuring systemic craft and a cohesive user experience.
  • Act as a technical peer to Engineering leads, directly influencing the product and technical roadmap by grounding decisions in user needs and an understanding of model capabilities.
  • Lead design for the most ambiguous and complex challenges, such as dynamic UIs and multi-agentic systems, driving progress from the earliest "chaos" phase to shipped-and-loved products.
  • Drive cross-product strategy and execution, initiating and managing relationships with teams across Google to create a unified and powerful agent experience in the broader ecosystem.
  • Translate abstract concepts into concrete, buildable designs, knowing when to leverage rapid, low-fidelity exploration versus when to invest in systemic, high-craft solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strategic influence and architectural thinking, with case studies showing how your work has shaped long-term product direction in ambiguous domains.
  • Extensive experience designing and shipping AI-powered products or features, with a deep understanding of AI-specific UX challenges like trust, explainability, and user control.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to act as a visionary, with a track record of defining new design patterns and mental models for novel technologies.
  • A background in a technical field or significant experience partnering with senior engineering counterparts to influence technical architecture and strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity and provide clear, decisive design leadership when the path forward is undefined.
  • Deep passion and curiosity for the AI space, demonstrated by regular, hands-on use of AI tools for daily work and design
  • Experience at forward-thinking companies in productivity, AI, or code generation

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $189,000 USD - 280,000 USD + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
