RF Engineer
FullTimeJob Overview
At Delian, we design and build critical infrastructure for high-impact operations. Our mission is to protect the security and prosperity of the 1 billion people residing in European democracies and allied nations, through technological strength.
We are looking for an RF Engineer with a strong interest in electronic warfare (EW) to design and deploy radio systems that can operate—and survive—in contested electromagnetic environments.
You’ll work on problems such as jamming resilience, signal detection, spectrum dominance, and adaptive communications, taking systems from concept to real-world deployment.
This is a hands-on, field-driven role where theory meets messy reality.
In this role you will get to
Design RF systems for contested and degraded spectrum environments
Develop and optimize anti-jamming and low-probability-of-intercept/detection (LPI/LPD) communication links
Build and evaluate signal detection, classification, and geolocation capabilities
Design and integrate RF front-ends for sensing and communications (filters, LNAs, PAs, mixers)
Work with SDR platforms to prototype and deploy adaptive radio systems
Perform link budgeting under adversarial conditions (interference, jamming, multipath)
Conduct RF testing in both lab and real-world field environments
Analyze and mitigate interference, intentional or otherwise
Collaborate with autonomy and embedded teams to enable real-time spectrum-aware behavior
Must have experience
Degree in electrical engineering, or related field
Strong fundamentals in RF engineering and electromagnetics
Practical experience deploying RF systems in real-world environments, iterating and improving them
Experience with Altium Designer and/or Mentor Xpedition (Altium Designer preferred)
Practical experience with some of the following:
layout of mixed analog and digital designs
high speed buses
FPGA, DRAM and CPU designs
power supplies and converters
transmission lines, impedance-controlled traces and power traces
Familiarity with SDRs (e.g., USRP, LimeSDR, HackRF) and RF measurement and test equipment
Understanding of:
Signal propagation in complex environments
Modulation and coding schemes
Link budgets and interference analysis
Ability to debug RF issues in unpredictable, real-world conditions
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others
Nice to have experience
Experience in electronic warfare, signals intelligence (SIGINT), or spectrum monitoring
Knowledge of:
Jamming techniques and mitigation strategies
Direction finding / geolocation techniques
Spread spectrum, frequency hopping, or adaptive waveforms
Experience with GNU Radio, MATLAB, or similar tools
Background in UAV/drone communications or mobile platforms
Experience with implementing embedded systems and support tooling (C/C++, Python)
Experience with MIL-STD, commercial and IPC standards and design
Understanding of design for manufacturability, assembly, and test
