Job Summary

    The Route Coordinator schedules and coordinates the delivery routes to guarantee that Dempsey's customers 
    receive their products and services in a timely and most efficient manner. Responsibilities include delivering 
    products to customer locations while adhering to all safety procedures, coordinating the routes for the drivers 
    and maintaining driver safety and DOT compliance at all times. 

Job Responsibilities

    • Drive commercial vehicle to and from customer stops along a planned route delivery sequence. Deliver 
    and stock our products in a safe, clean, timely, and professional manner.
    • Establishes and coordinates daily routes, assigning substitute drivers as needed.
    • Ensures driver safety, DOT compliance and fleet coordination. 
    • Participates in the loading and unloading of Dempsey vehicle(s) both at the company site as well as at 
    customer locations using proper safety techniques. 
    • Complete daily vehicle inspection reports (pre/post, DVIR), clean and fuel vehicles/equipment as 
    necessary.
    • Builds and maintains relationships with customers so as to know their business well enough to anticipate 
    demand changes to readily provide a Dempsey solution.
    • Manages inventories at customer locations to ensure products are stocked by entering information in 
    TRACs.
    • Provides coverage on routes when needed and verifies all routes have coverage to guarantee on-time 
    delivery of products. .
    • Manages credits for customers when needed.
    • Assists the supervisor of operations in maintaining routes.
    • Plans and ensures physical movement of textiles for on time delivery.
    • Maintains records and prepares required reports relevant to the operations of the service department.
    • Coordinates the assignment and activity of delivery helpers.
    • Coordinates the activities of customer specials and will complete special runs as needed.
    • Assists the Route Service Supervisor and Territory Service Manager in daily service operations such as 
    route check-ins.
    • Validates that all DOT and FMCSA pre/post trip inspections are completed for all drivers. 
    • Assists in the training of new hires and ongoing development of Route Drivers. 
    • Completes installs and un-installs at customer locations. 
    • Routes and dispatches using software applications.
    • Coordinates fleet maintenance as needed. 
    • Assist with plant operations as needed such as rolling mats, feeding towels, sorting garments, etc.
    • Perform all job duties in a safe manner by adhering to all driving regulations, road signs, and company 
    safety policies and procedures.

Education Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED required 
    • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred 

Experience Qualifications

    • 2 years' experience in service and route transportation required

    • Must have the ability to maintain and grow accounts within the assigned area of responsibility. (High

    • Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and think quickly to identify/solve customer concerns.

    • Demonstrated ability to prepare required written reports. (High proficiency)
    • Knowledge of DOT regulations for compliance. (High proficiency)
    • Effective training techniques and general knowledge of supervision practices. (Medium proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

    • Must be at least 22 years of age with a valid driver's license and demonstrated safe driving record as 
    shown on MVR. Upon Hire required
