The Senior Instructional Designer will lead the execution of our content development strategy and model our instructional design methodologies processes that translate into high-quality learning experiences. They will lead custom projects by designing, developing, and publishing customized content for our customers and be an advocate for sound instructional design and content creation practices. They will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored learning solutions and champion the application of sound design principles, ensuring that all content is relevant, scalable, engaging and measurable
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of high quality customized training and content to meet the specific needs of our clients.
- Design and develop courseware projects following established processes from management and leads to assure objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.
- Guide the development process by advocating for responsible, efficient, and effective content creation practices, while maintaining the highest standards in instructional design.
- Work collaboratively with project teams and customers through the content development lifecycle.
- Participate in extended and continuing education, research and competitive analysis to understand the learning and edtech market; maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Track billable time to support management efforts to report on resourcing needs for to maximize margin and time to market while maintaining appropriate flexibility.
- Uphold processes to perform regular quality and design reviews throughout the content development lifecycle.
- Follow best practices in adult learning theory and other learning design skills and methodologies for skills development and skills validation content creation
- Lead coaching sessions with colleagues and management to learn more about the “why, what, and how” of building effective, efficient skills development and skills validation content.
- Provide mentorship to instructional designers, guiding them in their design processes.
- Support and promote the company values through positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Other strategic business initiatives or special cross-functional project involvement as required.
Skills/ Requirements:
- 5-10 years contributing complex learning development projects/programs
- Good command of the Articulate 360 suite
- Proficiency in using M365 Copilot for instructional design
- Working knowledge of SecondNature or similar AI Role Play creation platforms is a plus
- Working knowledge of Synthesia and Vyond is a plus
- Advanced-level understanding and practice of Instructional Design as a discipline; strong knowledge of adult learning theories and research, learning experiences, needs assessment, job/task analysis, and skill/competency frameworks.
- Working knowledge of technical terminology and ability to quickly become “conversationally competent” with a wide variety of cloud, data, AppDev, IT, and security terms.
- Desire to work – and ability to flourish – at an extremely fast pace.
- Proven ability to drive multiple workflows/projects forward within a matrixed, agile work environment.
- Willingness to help fellow team members understand how to employ new Instructional Design methodologies.
- Experience in the IT training and certification industry and understanding of technical content development, job/task analysis, and Instructional Design is required.
