DISHER is partnering with a global foam cleaning equipment company in Grand Rapids, MI to fill their Logistics Specialist position. This company designs and builds chemical management and application equipment, specializing in foam cleaning solutions such as foam, fog, spray, gel, and more. They provide customized solutions for a wide range of industries, ensuring that each application is tailored to meet specific cleaning needs and optimize efficiency. The Controller is a senior accounting leader responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and scalable accounting operations while actively developing a high-performing accounting team in a technology-enabled environment.
The Logistics Specialist plays a key role in supporting domestic transportation operations, with working knowledge of LTL, parcel, and general freight strategy. This position is primarily focused on day-to-day logistics coordination and transportation decision making. Export and import responsibilities are part of the role, but prior trade compliance experience is not required and can be developed through training. The ideal candidate understands how domestic freight moves, knows how to work with carriers, and can make sound shipping decisions that balance cost, service, and operational flow.

What you will get to do:
- Coordinate domestic outbound shipments including parcel, LTL, and occasional full truckload.
- Select appropriate shipping modes based on weight, size, service requirements, and cost considerations.
- Work with parcel carriers and LTL providers to schedule pickups and resolve delivery issues.
- Review freight quotes and assist in routing decisions.
- Monitor shipments to ensure on time delivery and quickly address delays or exceptions.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams regarding ship dates, service expectations, and transportation constraints.
- Support packaging and shipment readiness to align with carrier requirements.
- Maintain familiarity with NMFC classifications, freight class concepts, and density principles, without needing to perform complex classification analysis independently.
- Assist with preparation and review of export documentation such as commercial invoices and packing lists.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers as needed.
- Support compliance processes under guidance and training.
- Learn Incoterms and international shipping basics as part of role development.
- Serve as backup support to the shipping department during absences or peak periods.
- Track inbound and outbound shipments and communicate updates proactively.
- Help resolve discrepancies, damages, or billing issues with carriers.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in logistics efficiency and cost control.
What will make you successful:
- 2 -4 years of experience in domestic logistics, transportation coordination, or shipping operations.
- Familiarity with LTL and parcel carrier environments.
- General understanding of freight class, NMFC structure, and density concepts, but not required to be an expert.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Detail oriented and solutions focused mindset.
- Interest in learning export and import processes, with training provided.
