About the role

The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for strengthening the relationship between the St. Louis Job Corps Center and the surrounding community, business partners, and stakeholders. This position serves as the primary liaison between the Center and the local business and civic community, ensuring awareness of the Center’s impact, programs, and student outcomes. The Community Engagement Specialist develops strategic partnerships, enhances community perception, and promotes opportunities that support student success, workforce development, and community collaboration. This role also leads the planning and execution of the Center’s Community Relations Council (CRC) meetings and other engagement initiatives.

What you'll do

Serve as the primary point of contact for community and business engagement initiatives

Build and maintain relationships with employers, partners, and community stakeholders

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate quarterly Community Relations Council (CRC) meetings

Develop outreach strategies to increase community awareness of the Center’s impact

Represent the Center at community events, meetings, and workforce development forums

Coordinate with internal departments to align outreach with program goals

Track and report on partnership activities, engagement efforts, and outcomes

Assist with job placement partnerships and employer engagement initiatives

Develop presentations, reports, and communication materials for stakeholders

Promote student success stories and program achievements to the community


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, Workforce Development, or related field preferred

Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in community engagement, business development, workforce partnerships, marketing, or public relations.

Strong understanding of community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development

Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills

Experience working with diverse populations and community organizations

Knowledge of Job Corps, workforce development programs, or education systems preferred

Strong organizational and project management skills

Ability to represent the Center in a professional and impactful manner
