Job Overview

About the Company

We are a leading global communications marketing firm helping business and organizations evolve, promote, and protect their brands and reputations. We are independent and family owned, which allows us the freedom to deliver original thinking and invest in our clients. In Japan, there are about 90 employees based in our office in Roppongi, Tokyo. We create award-winning creative communication programs for our clients for major global and Japanese multinational companies. We have deep expertise and counsel our clients on consumer trends, research, analytics and insights, corporate reputation, health, technology, capital markets, crisis, energy, and government affairs.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to manage the day to day works for our Large/mid Global Clients, our Corporate Team local clients. You will be required to help manage a fast-moving, dynamic team of around 3-7 people of different expertise and work with the team’s leadership members to ensure day-to-day delivery on brief, on time and on budget. In addition to the day-to-day client teams, you will be also working with Edelman’s Integrated Solutions teams (strategic planner, creative and digital. etc.) and our Asia Pacific Workplace Advisory specialist team, including working closely with our Japan-based director, to help solve a diverse set of challenges for Clients and ensuring the integration between all the different parts of the team is working seamlessly.

We estimate that you will spend about 50% on external communications & external brand work and 50% on workplace advisory work relating to the Clients’ employees as the communications audience.

Brand & Corporate Reputation
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Account Supervisor/Account Supervisor having a knowledge of brand building but also corporate reputation and media landscape around traditional media. A successful candidate should have a proven track record of delivering a wide range of project types and always be on top of a complex set of issues. Ideally, this candidate should have an experience in working with large Japanese or non-Japanese international companies and have a passion for various categories including Tech, F&B, Health etc, and great experience working across languages

We’re also looking for someone who isn’t afraid to network and develop new relationships across a wide variety of media and influencer contacts, spanning from broadcast, news, consumer, online and specialist media to individual influencers.

Workplace Advisory with Clients’ Employees as the Communication Audience
We are also looking for someone who has hands-on experience or interest to grow their expertise in communications work with employees as the main
audience. Employees are at the heart of an organization and leaders are increasingly recognizing the need to actively engage and communicate to employees in times of transformation and to achieve high performance. Many multinational companies and Japan-head quartered companies are working with Edelman’s Workplace Advisory team to partner with them to engage and communicate well in modern, employee-centric ways.

In contributing to Edelman’s AI transformation which is underway, the ideal candidate will proactively leverage AI to improve operational efficiency and the quality of deliverables, while maintaining a deep commitment to human intelligence and appropriate incorporation of AI into work.

This is a great job for someone who is a true team player, who enjoys the responsibility of playing a valuable role in a large team, taking pride in delivering incredible work while also able to listen/empathize to our client needs and issues. More than anything we’re looking for someone who is non-hierarchical and happy to dive in.
