Job Purpose

As an IT Business Systems Analyst, you will play a key role in managing databases, integrating data sources, building business intelligence dashboards, and automating workflows. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate operational needs into actionable insights while ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, migrate, and optimize SQL Server databases, including relationships, indexes, and back-end operations.
  • Support and modernize legacy Microsoft Access databases, migrating data to SQL or other platforms as needed.
  • Develop and maintain data integrations using APIs and automated feeds.
  • Clean, transform, and normalize large datasets across multiple systems.
  • Build and enhance business intelligence dashboards, KPIs, and automated reports using Power BI and Toad Intelligence Central (TIC).
  • Design interactive data collection tools using Microsoft Forms, Power Apps, or equivalent platforms.
  • Automate data flows with Power Automate or similar tools, ensuring seamless integration into databases and dashboards.
  • Document requirements, workflows, and functional specifications for data projects.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement automation to improve efficiency.
  • Provide troubleshooting and problem-solving support for data inconsistencies and system performance.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments (Operations, Accounting, IT, Vendors, etc.) to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical users in a clear, user-friendly manner.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards when handling sensitive or restricted data.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server (data management, relationships, indexes, migration).
  • Experience with Microsoft Access (front-end forms, back-end updates, data migration).
  • Proficiency in data integration and API connections across systems.
  • Data cleaning and transformation skills for large datasets.
  • Expertise in Power BI (dashboards, KPIs, drill-through, slicers, service accounts).
  • Familiarity with Toad Intelligence Central (TIC) for scheduled and parameterized reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, formulas, VBA/macros, and database connections.
  • Experience with Microsoft Forms, Power Apps, or similar tools for data collection.
  • Proficiency with Power Automate (or equivalent) for process automation.
  • Strong skills in requirements gathering, documentation, and business process analysis.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities in debugging systems and data issues.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple departments and external vendors.
  • Understanding of security and compliance requirements for sensitive/restricted data.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell, etc.).
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Change management and training experience to support new system adoption.
  • Strong attention to detail in managing multiple reports and dashboards.
