Job Overview

About the role

We’re looking for a Platforms Engineer to scale and evolve the internal platforms, repeatable patterns, and scalable systems that support our engineering development experience and AI workloads.

As part of the Platforms team, you’ll design and build CI/CD-driven automation and tooling, help define best practices for operating platform environments, and contribute to improving deployment pipelines and developer experience - driving measurable outcomes through DORA metrics.

You’ll also contribute to key cross-functional initiatives such as DroneShield’s Global Product VPN platform, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity across international deployments. Alongside this, you’ll work on broader platform efforts including hardware-in-the-loop testing, automated matrixed test frameworks, and platform tooling that uplifts the C2 developer experience, strengthening global platform reliability, test coverage, and developer productivity.

This role reports to the Platforms Lead.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of internal infrastructure and automated tooling, including CI/CD systems, observability tooling, and automated build pipelines for software artefacts
  • Support and improve continuous integration across both inner-loop and outer-loop development workflows
  • Assist in building and maintaining continuous deployment pipelines for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing
  • Help operate, monitor, and improve Hardware-in-the-Loop test infrastructure on specialised hardware, including runner management and incremental feature improvements
  • Integrate tools into automated workflows to improve developer feedback on code quality, security, testing, and documentation
  • Build, evolve, and support DroneShield’s AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
  • Define and maintain Terraform modules and reusable automation patterns for AWS services (ECS, EKS, S3, CloudFront, RDS, IAM, VPCs, ALBs, NLBs, etc.)

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or other modern pipeline tools
  • Solid working knowledge of Linux systems supporting application platforms
  • Experience deploying or operating observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or OpenTelemetry
  • Experience with scripting and automation using Python and Bash
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, following AWS governance and security standards
  • Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and automation in AWS environments
  • Familiarity with containerisation tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OCI-compliant runtimes, is desirable
  • Exposure to backend programming languages such as Go, Rust, or C++ is desirable
