To support our fast-paced manufacturing site in Yatala, we’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Stores & Procurement Officer to take ownership of our engineering stores, inventory, and MRO procurement activities.

⚠️ Important: This is a wet manufacturing site that processes raw meat. You must be comfortable working in this type of environment.


The Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance / Engineering & Reliability Manager, this role is critical to keeping our plant running reliably by ensuring:

  • The right spare parts and consumables are available at the right time

  • Engineering stores are organised, accurate, compliant and audit-ready

  • Inventory is well managed to improve equipment uptime and cost control

  • Planned maintenance activities are fully supported with on-time BOM availability

You’ll be a key member of the site maintenance team, driving continuous improvement in stores, inventory management, 5S, and CMMS (MEX).


Key Responsibilities
Stores & Procurement Operations
  • Coordinate engineering stores, purchasing, receipting and inventory control

  • Maintain accurate item masters, pricing, vendor data and stock records in CMMS (MEX)

  • Manage spare parts and consumables for breakdowns, shutdowns and planned maintenance

  • Ensure all purchasing complies with RPF P2P and financial policies

  • Ensure on-time receipting of all inventory and consumables

  • Proactively manage stock levels to minimise stock-outs and excess inventory

  • Support shutdown planning with BOM costing and procurement

  • Drive 5S, housekeeping and best-practice stores layout and organisation

  • Seek opportunities to reduce vendor count and improve commercial outcomes

Inventory, Compliance & Stocktake
  • Execute cycle counts and manage annual stocktakes

  • Investigate and report inventory variances

  • Ensure stores are audit-ready at all times (financial and quality)

  • Ensure food safety, quality and compliance controls are upheld in stores (e.g. foreign object control, labelling, shelf life, chemicals, inks, etc.)

Stakeholder & Supplier Management
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Production, Quality, Safety, Finance and Planning teams

  • Manage supplier relationships, performance and disputes

  • Enforce preferred supplier agreements and compliance

  • Support engineering and operations with purchasing and sourcing

Reporting
  • Prepare inventory and maintenance cost data for weekly and monthly reporting

  • Support R&M budget tracking and inventory valuation reporting

  • Analyse variances and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives


About You

You’re organised, commercially astute, and calm under pressure. You thrive in a manufacturing environment and take pride in running a tight, well-controlled stores operation.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience in maintenance / engineering stores or MRO procurement in FMCG or manufacturing

  • Strong inventory control experience (cycle counts, stocktakes, variance analysis)

  • Experience managing mechanical and electrical spare parts

  • CMMS experience (MEX highly regarded) and/or ERP systems (SAP, QAD, etc.)

  • Strong Excel and computer skills

  • Understanding of basic inventory accounting principles

  • Ability to source parts quickly during breakdown situations

  • Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Comfortable working in a wet food manufacturing environment

Desirable
  • Experience in food or FMCG manufacturing

  • Exposure to Lean, 5S, Kanban, FIFO

  • Trade background (Mechanical or Electrical) or Engineering qualification
