Estimator - MEP

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented MEP Estimator with a minimum of 5+ years of experience to join our tender & estimation team in Dubai. The ideal candidate must possess deep technical knowledge of Electromechanical works and a proven track record within the UAE construction market.
You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use towers, ensuring compliance with local utility authorities' regulations (e.g., DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, FEWA) and the specific consultant specifications.
Tender Management & Cost Planning:
Review tender documents (BOQ, Drawings, Specifications) and identify scope gaps, risks, and ambiguities.
Prepare an accurate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for all MEP disciplines: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, ELV, and BMS etcs.
Develop comprehensive MEP works cost estimates for construction projects of varying sizes and complexities.
Conduct site visits to assess logistical challenges, existing services, and storage constraints.
UAE Authority Approvals & Compliance:
Crucial: Hands-on experience with major stakeholder requirements and approval processes.
A clear understanding of authority charges and infrastructure connection fees.
Estimates include costs for Trakhees/DC/government and stakeholders' approval processes where applicable.
Procurement & Subcontractor Quotations:
Solicit and analyse quotations from approved MEP suppliers and subcontractors.
Negotiate pricing with vendors specifically for high-value items: HVAC Chillers, Diesel Generators, LV Panels, Fire Fighting Pumps, and Transformers.
Tender Submission:
Prepare the commercial proposal and ensure alignment with the technical proposal.
Present the estimate to management for adjudication and final margin approval.
Lead the clarification process post-tender submission.
Software Proficiency:
- Expert in Expert Estimator (Non-negotiable for most UAE contractors) OR PlanSwift / CostX.
Advanced MS Excel (Macro-enabled sheets preferred).
AutoCAD (for quantity take-offs).
Proficiency in estimating software such as CCS Candy or similar tools
Responsible for:
- Prepare and maintain a database of previous bids and current cost information
- Conduct quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost breakdowns
- Identify potential risks and opportunities within project estimates
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure estimate accuracy and completeness
- Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and new estimating techniques
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and presentations
