Title: Associate Officer, Public Policy and Advocacy

Reports To: Associate Director, Communications & Digital Strategy
Classification: Full-time, exempt
The Associate Officer, Public Policy and Advocacy, functions as an integral part of the Public Policy and Advocacy (PPA) team reporting to the Advisor, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, PPA. The Associate Officer works on U.S. and global policy and advocacy efforts to advance EGPAF priorities in the U.S. and around the world. The Associate Officer will contribute significantly to the success of EGPAF’s recently awarded, Common Ground for Global Health project. This project aims to revitalize support for U.S.-led global health initiatives, with a particular focus on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH), as well as HIV. Common Ground for Global Health will tell the story of how pivotal U.S. investments have shaped countries, communities, and families while bolstering U.S. prosperity, health, and security. This project will draw on the EGPAF’s extensive global experience implementing evidence-based lifesaving programming, trusted Congressional and global health community relationships, and a network of global leaders to supercharge educational and understanding efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Common Ground for Global Health project, including event planning, collateral development, documentation, and other tasks as needed.
- Research relevant global health policy issues, especially those related to ending pediatric HIV and AIDS, women’s health, and global maternal, newborn and child health.
- Monitor and analyze legislation pertaining to key priorities including global health and development, HIV research, maternal and child health, and domestic HIV.
- Develop relevant policy and advocacy materials including issue briefs, talking points, and one-pagers to educate policy makers, as well as the public of the ongoing priorities and challenges to pediatric HIV and maternal and child health.
- Represent EGPAF and the Common Ground for Global Health project in external settings such as community roundtable meetings and on Capitol Hill.
- Oversee team assets including updating public policy and advocacy sections of the website, intranet, staff newsletter, leadership updates, and organizing and tracking materials and asks.
- Collaborate with the global Public Policy and Advocacy team to create synergies across geographic priorities.
- Collaborate with the External Affairs team to drive media advocacy and digital communications on strategic issues relevant for the PPA team’s work and the Common Ground for Global Health project.
- Provide administrative support to ensure key components of the Common Ground for Global Health project are achieved successfully and on time.
- Assist with other duties and special projects as assigned.
