Health & Safety Specialist

Victoria, BC
$70,000 – $80,000 a year | Full-time | On-site

Flynn Group of Companies is currently seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to support our Victoria Branch (6836 Kirkpatrick Crescent, Saanichton, BC). This position reports to the Health & Safety Supervisor and acts as the primary safety resource for the branch.

This role requires a hands-on, highly responsive individual who is comfortable working independently while supporting crews, leadership, and worksites in real time.

A Day in the Life

  • Deliver weekly new hire safety orientations and ongoing safety training sessions
  • Conduct regular site visits and safety inspections using standardized documentation and processes
  • Support crews and leadership by identifying potential hazards and risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead or assist with incident and accident investigations, including follow-up and corrective actions
  • Support injury management and return-to-work processes as they arise
  • Facilitate safety information sessions when rolling out new initiatives or programs
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable legislation
  • Maintain accurate reports, records, and safety documentation
  • Act as an accessible, responsive safety resource for the Victoria branch

Work Schedule & Location

  • Monday to Friday
  • Typical working hours range from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility required to accommodate:
    • Crew start times
    • Training sessions
    • Site demands
  • This is an on-site role, split between the office and job sites


Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to safely work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised
  • Comfortable using technology, including Microsoft Teams and mobile devices
  • Reliable, responsive, and able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to pass a background check (required for some job sites)


Assets / Nice to Have

  • Experience in a construction safety role 
  • Approximately 1+ year of safety-related experience 
  • Education and/or training in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety, NCSO or equivalent experience
  • Experience with COR audits or audit preparation
  • Presentation and facilitation skills (PowerPoint, group training)
  • Experience with incident investigations and injury management / WorkSafeBC claims
  • Familiarity with site inspections and working directly with crews
