A Day In The Life
- Manage the safety requirements of operational construction sites and equipment
- Conduct safety evaluations of Flynn project sites using documentation and standardized processes
- Ensure that sub-contractors adhere to required safety standards in keeping with Flynn policy/legislation
- Identifying potential risks and safety hazards during a project with involvement throughout the job life cycle (estimate, pre-mobilization, construction and autopsy)
- Performing accident and incident investigations as per the company’s health and safety programs
- Maintain a conducive working relationship with all management, superintendents, project managers through education and giving practical on site application options
- Assisting with the communication and implementation of the company’s claims management and return to work programs
- Be proactive in recommending changes to improve the safety programs
- Participate in the development and implementation of safety training programs
- Conducting new worker safety orientations and other required training programs as needed
- Report writing and maintaining of all required documentation
- Attending and supporting monthly safety committee meetings as required
- Frequent visits to job sites and various areas of Vancouver Island and surrounding areas when required

What We Are Seeking
- Education and/or training in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety, NCSO or equivalent experience is an asset
- Experience in a safety role within a construction environment is an asset
- Knowledge of the COR process is considered a strong asset
- Safety knowledge in Fall Protection, Fire Prevention and WHMIS
- Knowledge and practical experience in incident investigation
- Experience/knowledge handling workplace injury management
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Computer literate in Windows applications; Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Presentation skills are an asset
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Team attitude with a willingness to learn
- Valid driver’s license required
