Communications Specialist - EEx Programme
Permanent Full TimeJob Overview
Ko wai mātou – About us
Kia ora. We’re Foodies. You know New World, PAK’nSAVE, Gilmours and Four Square, right? That’s us!
With more than 320 stores and 27,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Māui, Foodstuffs North Island is a co-op proudly owned by our local store owner operators. Our purpose is simple – making sure New Zealanders get more out of life, and we’re driven by our aspiration to be New Zealand’s most customer driven and productive organisation.
Te Tūranga – About the role
The Employee Experience (EEx) Programme is our co-op-wide reset of how our people and payroll experience works; simpler, smarter, and designed for the moments that matter. We’re modernising systems and streamlining processes so it’s easier for our teams (stores, DCs and Support Centre) to get stuff done and focus on customers.
As we kick off our Employee Experience (EEx) transformation here at Foodies, we have an epic opportunity for a Communications Specialist to join in the fun and play a key role in transforming how we communicate with our frontline and support centre teams.
You’ll get to help with shaping, testing and embedding our new communications platform and making it part of the way we do things at Foodies, so our people can easily get the information they need – at the right time, in the right way.
Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications and working closely with our EEx, Change and frontline teams, you’ll sit right at the heart of some of our most important work.
What you’ll do:
- Help to drive strong adoption of the new communications platform, particularly in our stores.
- Co-design clear, practical communications to help embed the new communications platforms alongside our training, change and adoption plans.
- Support our communications partners to create engaging comms, toolkits and templates that support major EEx milestones.
Over time, your focus will expand to improving operational support centre-to-frontline communications, making sure messages are easy to understand, relevant and genuinely useful.
- Meaningfully shift the quality and consistency of our internal communications by developing smart communications processes and templates
- Coach our key content creators on how to produce effective and visual communications that meet the needs of our diverse brands and audiences
- Partner with stores and distribution centres to strengthen the quality of daily communications across the co-op.
- Use feedback and insights to continually lift our game and find better ways to connect and engage with our people on the frontline with customers.
- Add your expertise to the communication of key change initiatives so they land effectively for our busy store teams.
He kōrero mōu – About you

- A strategic mindset, balanced with the ability to jump in and get things done
- Comfort juggling multiple priorities while still delivering great work at pace
- The ability to communicate clearly, warmly and confidently with a wide range of audiences
- A sharp eye for detail, a creative streak, and the flexibility to adapt your tone when needed
- A sense of humour — because we take our work seriously, but not ourselves
Most of all, you care about helping people feel informed, supported and set up for success.
