Te Tūranga – About the role
This is fixed term role until March 2027 covering maternity leave.  As a Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner you will be working as part of our Safety & Wellbeing Team and be instrumental in leading safety systems and building a proactive positive safety culture across the New World banner. You’ll support the use of our health and safety systems and support new initiatives and innovations that seamlessly integrate Safety & Wellbeing into everyday business to keep our people safe.

Some of what you’ll get stuck into:

  • Completing in store S&W Assessments starting in around October – November then again from late Jan through to March
  • Support safety forms, safe work practices, knowledge sessions etc when not out assessing stores
  • Coaching, mentoring, supporting and upskilling store team members, Line Managers and Owner Operators in the administration of incidents, hazards, and corrective actions within our health and safety management system, using our online tool.
  • Providing subject matter expertise regarding technical aspects of safety management and supporting the investigations process and assigning of meaningful controls.
  • Managing and responding to safety queries from store owners and team members
  • Ensuring overall accuracy of metrics around our core health and safety and Injury Management KPIs and reviewing monthly and ad-hoc reporting.

This role requires frequent travel to stores, most of which are in Auckland or within a couple of hours, there would potentially be a couple of overnight trips to Whangarei, Northland and Coromandel.

He kōrero mōu - About you
You could be an experience Compliance Manager at one of our stores or an experience Health and Safety Advisor looking for their next opportunity.  You’ll have hands on experience with the application of health and safety legislation and systems and the application of safety policies, procedures and standards.

You’ll also have:

  • Understanding in conducting accident investigation, hazard assessments and involvement in workplace audits.
  • Experience in working with safety systems - ACC WSMP or similar and or auditing to an in internal safety management standard.
  • Good understanding of New Zealand ACC and health and safety legislation, regulations and application of the same.
  • Competence in MS Office software, and have experience in SharePoint administration, or similar.
  • Willingness to travel and manage a portfolio of sites with varying needs and skillsets and levels of safety practice.
  • A friendly approachable – go getter who is passionate about making our workplace safer for all those who have contact with our stores and brands.
