About the Role
A leading aerospace manufacturing company is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join its growing finance team. This role will play a key part in driving cost efficiency, analyzing production and inventory data, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting related to manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of cost accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and supply chain teams.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and margins to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
Prepare and review standard cost models, work orders, and inventory valuation reports.
Lead month-end close activities related to cost accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
Partner with operations to monitor material usage, labor efficiency, and overhead application.
Maintain and update cost standards, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and routings within the ERP system.
Support budget and forecast development by providing accurate cost data and analysis.
Assist in inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accurate reporting of physical inventory.
Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
Oversee and review the work of junior accountants, providing guidance, mentorship, and training as needed to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
5+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting, preferably within manufacturing or aerospace industries.
Strong understanding of GAAP and standard cost systems.
Proficient in ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
