About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support a growing agriculture operation with a strong focus on grower accounting and general ledger accounting This role plays a key part in financial reporting, cost tracking, and ensuring accurate accounting across multiple growers and farming operations. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced, seasonal environment and understands the financial nuances of agricultural production.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant
Manage grower accounting activities, including settlement statements, grower billings, advances, and cost allocations
Track and analyze crop costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and harvest-related expenses
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to farming operations and production costs
Collaborate with operations, ranch managers, and field teams to ensure accurate cost reporting
Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis
Support audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards
Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within accounting functions
Qualifications of the Senior Accountant
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, preferred not required
At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within agriculture, would be nice
Experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close
Proficient in Excel; experience with agriculture or ERP systems a plus
Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
