Job Overview

The Sr. Electrical Estimation Engineer will take on a pivotal role in the evaluation of project requirements, estimation of costs, and preparation of competitive bids for electrical projects. This position requires a higher level of experience and expertise in electrical engineering, including HV/MV/LV equipment and systems. The Senior Electrical Estimation Engineer will be responsible for reviewing project specifications, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring precise cost calculations. Moreover, this role will involve mentoring and guiding junior estimation engineers.

Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of local standards and regulations, including ADNOC, ADDC, AADC, ADM, DEWA, SEWA, and keep abreast of any updates or changes to these standards.
    • Assess tender ITBs (Invitation to Bid), documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules, ensuring a thorough understanding of project requirements.
    • Initiate and oversee the process of obtaining quotes and proposals from suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors, and lead negotiations to secure competitive rates.
    • Showcase expertise in electrical HV/MV/LV equipment and systems, providing technical insight into substation and overhead line (OHL) works.
    • Review, analyze, and interpret datasheets, single-line diagrams, specifications, and cable schedules accurately.
    • Prepare precise and comprehensive Bill of Quantities (BOQ) based on project requirements, ensuring all essential aspects are accounted for.
    • Develop detailed cost sheets, encompassing direct costs, indirect costs, temporary facilities, and other relevant expenses in compliance with tender specifications.
    • Create cost sheets for construction packages intended for main contractors.
    • Thoroughly review and comprehend contract and commercial terms and conditions documents, identifying any potential risks or concerns.
    • Conduct thorough cost comparisons between supplier and subcontractor offers, employing analytical skills to make informed decisions.
    • Generate technical and commercial proposals aligned with client requirements, presenting them in a professional and persuasive manner.
    • Lead negotiations with suppliers, taking into account both technical and commercial aspects of products, to secure favorable deals.
    • Maintain ISO documentation and ensure proper record-keeping, adhering to quality management standards.
    • Oversee and update the suppliers/manufacturers' data bank records, ensuring the information remains up-to-date and accurate.
    • Verify material take-off to maintain the highest level of accuracy in all estimation processes.
