Great Oaks Legacy Charter School is seeking a Director of Facilities to join our Operations team for the 2026–27 school year.

Great Oaks Legacy Charter School (GOLCS) is a free, open-enrollment public charter school system in Newark, New Jersey, educating students from Pre-K to 12th grade. Our mission is to prepare every student for college success. GOLCS currently educates more than 2,100 students across seven campuses in the greater Newark area.

The Director of Facilities at Great Oaks Legacy Charter School serves as a key member of the GOLCS network leadership team. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer, and works collaboratively with the Campus Operations teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all facilities repairs, from small to large-scale, as well as upgrades and regular maintenance.
- Provide detailed, regular status reports of facilities projects across 6 buildings and 7 campuses.
- Hold cross-functional teams accountable for construction and maintenance deliverables and timelines.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve scalable facilities management systems across all campuses, including preventive maintenance programs, work order tracking, vendor management, and facilities compliance oversight.
- Experience managing facilities budgets at the network level, including forecasting, tracking expenditures, and ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources across multiple campuses and projects.
- Strong knowledge of facilities compliance requirements, including oversight of inspections, certifications, and adherence to applicable regulations (e.g., lead, water safety, and New Jersey state codes), with systems in place to ensure ongoing compliance across all campuses.
- Document facilities procedures and preferred vendors across all campuses to ensure scalable practices that can be implemented and improved with high fidelity year over year.
- Maintain up-to-date building documentation and certifications, and coordinate required inspections.
- Hold Operations teams and outside vendors accountable to ensure all GOLCS facilities expectations are effectively implemented.
- Operate with flexibility as part of a lean team, supporting the Facilities and Real Estate Manager while stepping in to lead or execute on projects and tasks as needed.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and CEO.
Qualifications
- Broad knowledge of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.) required, with at least 3 years of trade work experience preferred
- Intermediate administrative skills with experience using Google Workspace and creating collaborative documents and reports
- Experience coaching and developing junior staff members or direct reports
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Previous experience working in schools a plus

Great Oaks Legacy Charter School offers a competitive and equitable compensation package aligned to years of relevant experience. The minimum base salary for this role is $113,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
