Senior Operations Officer - (Capital Markets & Derivatives)
Job Overview
The Senior Officer in Group Operations (Capital Markets & Derivatives) is responsible for ensuring that all derivatives-related transactions executed by the Global Markets department are properly processed. This includes matching, validation, confirmation, settlement, and accurate capture of lifecycle events, all within agreed timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all derivatives transactions (including IRS and Islamic products) executed by the Global Markets desk.
- Ensure successful matching, validation, confirmation, and settlement of each trade in the appropriate systems.
- Capture, book, and instruct all lifecycle events for derivative products accurately.
- Monitor reconciliation reports, identify breaks, and drive resolution.
- Escalate unresolved issues or systemic exceptions as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure audit- and regulatory-compliant processes.
Requirements
Required Experience & Skills
- Derivatives/Product Experience: Specifically in Interest Rate Swaps (IRS) and Islamic derivative products.
- Operations Expertise: Strong understanding of operations life-cycle for derivatives—trade validation, confirmation, settlement, and event management.
- Reconciliation & Issue Resolution: Proven ability to monitor reconciliation reports, identify breaks, resolve them, and escalate where necessary.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in booking lifecycle events and maintaining trade records.
- Time Management: Ability to work within strict timeframes and meet deadlines for trade settlement and confirmation.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to work with front office, middle office, counterparties, and other internal stakeholders.
