Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced HSQE Manager to lead our health, safety, quality, and environmental management programs in a manufacturing setting. This role is key to ensuring regulatory compliance, improving operational standards, and fostering a safety- and quality-driven culture across the site.

The position is designed as a hybrid role, with presence in both our Baljevac (Serbia) and Maribor (Slovenia) plants, combined with the flexibility for remote work where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

🛡️ Health & Safety

  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace safety procedures and programs (e.g., risk assessments, LOTO, PPE).
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant local and national health and safety legislation.
  • Conduct safety inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • Provide training to employees on safe work practices and emergency response.
  • Maintain and update safety policies, SOPs, and records.

🔍 Quality Management

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and other business appropriate ISO standards
  • Monitor product and process quality through audits, inspections, and performance metrics.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives using tools like Six Sigma, 5S, or Lean Manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Manage internal and external audits, non-conformances, and CAPAs.

🌱 Environmental Management

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, waste disposal, air/water emissions).
  • Implement and monitor ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Manage hazardous materials and chemical inventories in compliance with SDS and reporting regulations.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives focused on energy, waste, and resource optimization.

🔄 Cross-functional & Administrative

  • Maintain documentation and reporting systems related to HSQE performance, incidents, training, and audits.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and certification bodies.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement in HSQE initiatives.
  • Lead or support monthly HSQE review meetings with leadership.
  • Create and maintain a quality event calendar for both factories to be shared with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Quality Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing HSQE or EHS/QHSE role.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and relevant national regulations.
  • Experience with audit processes, CAPA, and continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English (main working language within the Group); Serbian and/or Slovenian strongly preferred for effective collaboration at both plants.
  • Confident in working across the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, ideally with senior user level experience.
  • HSQE management software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CQI, ISO Lead Auditor, Certified Safety Professional).
  • Experience in similar manufacturing requirements would be advantageous

  • Ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organisation.
  • Established negotiation and mediation skills with senior level colleagues; able to bring to conflict to acceptable conclusion with a focus on what is best for the BU.
  • Organised, self-reliant, with great time management.
  • Good reporting discipline with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, and prioritise effectively to handle a varied and busy schedule.
  • Determined, open minded and energetic team worker with an infectious work ethic.
  • Buckets of common sense; able to see the sensible decision and encourage others to come to the same conclusion.
  • Natural Project Management skills; able to clearly agree tasks and assign ownership (who, what, when, where, why).
  • Experience of working within a fast-paced multicultural Supply Chain environment.
