Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Assistant Café Manager to lead our team. You will assist the Cafe Manager in overseeing daily operations, motivating staff, and driving sales. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering extraordinary guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Guest Experience
- Assist in managing daily cafe operations, ensuring smooth workflow and maintaining quality standards.
- Act as the floor leader, ensuring customers are greeted warmly and their orders are fulfilled quickly and accurately.
- Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally to ensure high satisfaction.
- Enforce all health, safety, and sanitation regulations across all shifts.
- Flexibility to work all stations in the store, including barista, cashier, food expo, dishwasher, and food prep.
2. Team Leadership & Development
- Help recruit, hire, and onboard new baristas and cafe staff.
- Train employees on drink preparation, equipment usage, and company service standards.
- Monitor staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and keep the team motivated.
- Ensures all staff is following company guidelines. Is comfortable carrying out disciplinary action when necessary
- Monitors sales to make adjustments to staffing when necessary
3. Administrative Duties
- Is able to fill in for Manager in their absence, including:
- Inventory: ordering and keep track of product and disposables to ensure maximum sales and availability
- Assist with cash handling duties, including processing payments, completing registers.
- Is comfortable with scheduling, ensuring appropriate coverage during both peak and slow times
- Is able to make timeclock adjustments to ensure payroll is accurate
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1–2 years of previous management or supervisory experience in a cafe, restaurant, or retail environment.
- Skills: Hands-on experience with professional coffee/espresso machines, grinders, and POS systems. Strong leadership, math, and communication skills.
- Knowledge: Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations. (Food Safety Manager Certification preferred).
- Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Attitude: Enthusiastic, positive, upbeat, and capable of solving problems on the fly.
