Job Overview

Job Summary:

The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations and waitlists, and coordinating seating arrangements to ensure a smooth and welcoming dining experience. This role serves as the first point of contact for guests and helps set the tone for exceptional customer service.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

1.     Greets guests upon arrival and welcomes them to the restaurant.

2.     Provides accurate wait times and manages the waitlist.

3.     Manages reservations and seating assignments.

4.     Escorts guests to assigned dining or bar areas.

5.     Presents menus and informs guests of their server.

6.     Coordinates with wait staff regarding table availability and seating flow.

7.     Maintains a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.

8.     Assists guests with special needs or requests, including children and elderly patrons.

9.     Answers incoming calls and responds to guest inquiries.

10.  Greets guests upon departure and thanks them for their visit.

11.  Assists wait staff as needed to support overall restaurant operations.

12.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

1.     Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

2.     Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage reservations and seating efficiently.

3.     Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in person and over the phone.

4.     Understanding of restaurant etiquette and guest service standards.

5.     Familiarity with health and safety regulations.

6.     Ability to monitor and manage the flow of the dining and bar areas.

7.     Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

Education and Experience:

1.     Previous experience as a host/hostess preferred.

2.     Must successfully complete restaurant training program.

3.     High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

1.     Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

2.     Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
