RN Triage AOD

Full-time Mid-Senior Level

Job Overview

In this role, you will provide high-quality clinical care and coordinate timely access to primary healthcare services for detainees with AOD-related needs. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safe, responsive, and culturally respectful healthcare delivery.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary environment.

To work within this role, you must either:

  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in AOD with a minimum of 5 years’ AOD specialty experience, or
  • Have a minimum of 7 years’ specialist AOD nursing experience if they do not hold a postgraduate qualification.

Day to day!

  • Conduct comprehensive AOD and nursing assessments
  • Develop and implement person-centred care plans
  • Administer medications and provide health education
  • Coordinate referrals and liaise with relevant healthcare professionals and services
  • Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary care planning
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and practice within scope
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and professional development activities
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and collaborative team culture
  • Manage clinical resources and supplies appropriately

Lets talk about you!

You will bring unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1), a postgraduate qualification in Drug & Alcohol Health (AQF Level 8+) or equivalent experience, and a minimum of five years’ clinical experience in AOD-related nursing care. You will also demonstrate a strong understanding of contemporary AOD health service delivery frameworks, excellent communication and critical thinking skills, and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Adaptability, flexibility, and intermediate computer skills across the Microsoft Office Suite will also support your success in this role.
