We are looking for a high-ownership, detail-oriented professional to support our Sales & Occupancy Tax function. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable managing multiple priorities under tight, recurring deadlines.
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and file multi-jurisdictional sales and occupancy tax returns with absolute precision.
- Perform tax calculations based on reservation-level data, including accommodation fares, cleaning fees, and other taxable components.
- Reconcile data between Property Management Systems (PMS), tax reports, and financial records to ensure a single source of truth.
- Manage timely tax remittances and maintain structured compliance calendars.
- Act as the direct point of contact for state and local tax jurisdictions to handle notices, inquiries, or audits.
- Build and maintain structured tax reports for internal and client use, working closely with clients to align their operational setup with tax requirements.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in the hospitality industry is required.
- Specific experience within sales, occupancy, and lodging tax compliance.
- Deep familiarity with the nuances of short-term rental (STR) and property management tax structures.
- Ability to operate effectively under tight, recurring deadlines while maintaining a high degree of ownership.
- Strong capability to handle reservation-level data and translate it into accurate financial filings.
Nice to Have (Not Required):
- PMS Platforms: Experience with systems such as Streamline, Guesty, or similar hospitality platforms.
- Technical Tools: Proficiency in tax automation or ERP tools like Avalara or NetSuite.
