To provide a safe road and footpath network to the community by carrying out inspections in accordance with Council’s Road Management Plan.

What you’ll be doing:

• Conduct road, line marking, footpath, sign, street furniture, road safety barrier and drainage asset inspections within Hume City Council, ensuring compliance with Council’s Road Management Plan.
• Conduct temporary repairs.
• Provide a high level of customer service.
• Report private and service authorities’ hazards, faults and un-reinstated Council infrastructure to asset owners or developers.
• Assist public with technical and general enquires or complaints.
• Provide assistance and technical advice to the Inspections Supervisor with regard to maintenance activities.
• Investigation, reporting and other duties as directed by the Inspections Supervisor, consistent with the general requirements of this position.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

• A demonstrated understanding of municipal maintenance operations and practices.
• Basic awareness of relevant legislation including, "Road Management Act 2004" and Hume City Council’s Road Management Plan.
• Knowledge of works programming and asset inspection schedules
• Ability to identify customer/client needs and expectations, decide appropriate action and respond accordingly.
• Civil construction and maintenance work experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer and associated Microsoft software programs.
• Highly developed customer service skills.
