Job Role: Financial Accountant (CPA)
Compensation range: $1,800 AUD - $2,700 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time. Potentially, you might also need to overlap with US time zones to accommodate some other clients.

Role Overview: The Financial Accountant (CPA) will play a key role in both restoring and managing the company’s financial operations. Initially focused on reconstructing historical ledgers, reconciling intercompany balances, and standardising workpapers, the role will evolve to oversee month-end processes, multi-entity consolidations, and structured reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, experience across diverse industries, and a proactive, service-oriented mindset, with exposure to Australian and US compliance, ecommerce, ERP systems, and multicurrency operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconcile and restore historical ledgers and intercompany accounts.
- Standardise chart of accounts and ledger structures.
- Develop and maintain consistent workpapers and audit trails.
- Support CFO with forensic reviews and documentation.
- Perform month-end close and reconciliation cycles.
- Manage multi-entity consolidations and elimination entries.
- Maintain ERP and inventory accounting platforms.
- Prepare structured reporting for management and audit.
- Support finance frameworks for expansion into new jurisdictions.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- 5+ years of financial accounting experience.
- Strong Excel skills (SUMIFS, INDEX-MATCH, PivotTables).
- Proven experience in consolidations and reconciliations.
- Strong documentation and workpaper discipline.
- High standard of written and spoken English.
- Formal accounting qualification (CPA, IPA, CA, or equivalent).
Highly Preferable:
- Experience in both public practice and in-house accounting roles.
- Exposure to Australian and US compliance requirements.
- Ecommerce, ERP, or inventory accounting experience.
- FX/multicurrency handling or strong willingness to learn.
- Commercial and charitable sector exposure.
- Audit preparation or forensic review experience.
