Job Overview

As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards are met at solar project sites. Your primary role will be to monitor and enforce safety practices to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards. You will also lead safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations, providing safety training and supporting the development of a strong safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Monitoring & Compliance:

    • Ensure that all work activities on-site adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

    • Conduct daily site inspections to identify potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.

    • Implement and enforce safety measures to mitigate risks associated with civil and mechanical works on solar power projects.

    • Ensure that all workers and subcontractors are using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety protocols.

  • Safety Training & Awareness:

    • Provide regular safety training sessions to employees, contractors, and site workers on safety best practices and emergency procedures.

    • Conduct orientation programs for new workers to familiarize them with the site-specific safety requirements.

    • Promote a safety-first culture across the project site, encouraging employees to report hazards and safety violations.

  • Incident Management & Reporting:

    • Investigate any accidents, injuries, or safety incidents that occur on-site, identifying root causes and developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

    • Prepare detailed incident reports and documentation for internal records and regulatory compliance.

    • Ensure that all safety incidents are promptly reported to the management and relevant authorities as per legal requirements.

  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation:

    • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace, including electrical, mechanical, and civil construction-related risks.

    • Develop and implement mitigation plans to reduce identified risks and improve site safety conditions.

    • Review and update site-specific risk assessments regularly based on changing work conditions or new tasks being introduced.

  • Safety Audits & Inspections:

    • Perform regular safety audits and inspections of the site to ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement.

    • Coordinate with external safety consultants, authorities, and auditors for regular audits and safety inspections.

    • Maintain a comprehensive record of safety audits, inspections, and corrective actions taken.

  • Emergency Preparedness & Response:

    • Develop and implement emergency response plans for various potential emergency situations (e.g., fire, electrical accidents, medical emergencies).

    • Conduct regular emergency drills and simulations to ensure site readiness in case of an emergency.

    • Ensure that first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency equipment are properly maintained and easily accessible.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety procedures, inspections, training, incidents, and safety meetings.

    • Prepare and submit safety reports to senior management, highlighting safety performance, incidents, and compliance status.

    • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and industry standards in all safety-related documentation.
