Infrastructure Technician

The Infrastructure Technician is responsible for executing field-based tasks related to the installation, maintenance and upkeep of ikeja’s infrastructure. This includes physical site work such as tower/pole maintenance, solar panel installation, battery replacement, cabinet repairs and related duties.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-conscious and reliable, with strong knowledge of infrastructure equipment/hardware and a willingness to travel and work outdoors. This is a highly operational role that supports the overall stability and growth of the ikeja network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and installations of infrastructure, including poles, towers, solar panels, radios, batteries and cabinets.
- Conduct repairs to physical infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and service interruptions.
- Assist in the deployment, relocation, or decommissioning of equipment at ikeja sites.
- Clean solar panels and maintain physical integrity of infrastructure assets.
- Conduct fault-finding and basic repairs on infrastructure equipment.
- Use power tools and related equipment safely and correctly.
- Assist with site clearance, preparation, leveling and pole foundation work.
- Complete all work with a focus on safety and compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of tools, vehicles and work areas.
- Report incidents or safety risks promptly to the Infrastructure Foreman.
- Work closely with the Infrastructure team and other departments to support field operations.
- Provide input into improving the efficiency of site work, tools and equipment handling.
- Record completed tasks and communicate updates as required.
- Attend weekly team check-ins and toolbox talks.
Requirements
- Matric or equivalent (Grade 12) is advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an infrastructure-related technician role (including tower work, working at heights, deployment and maintenance of infrastructure).
- Good knowledge of infrastructure hardware, such as poles, radios, solar panels, batteries, cabinets and related equipment.
- Proven ability to use power tools and operational equipment effectively.
- Experience working at heights, with appropriate safety training and/or certification (advantageous).
- Valid driver’s license held for at least 1 year.
- Physically fit and able to lift, carry and install hardware and infrastructure components.
- Willingness to work standby and travel between sites when required.
- Good problem-solving skills and technical troubleshooting ability.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Proven ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management, safety awareness and attention to detail.
