What You Will Do

The Adult Triage Nurse Supervisor is responsible for promoting a positive patient and employee experience and expediting workflow within the adult triage nurse team, as well as providing telephone triage nursing care to patients.

Essential Nursing Functions:

1.      Maintain working knowledge of all roles and responsibilities within the adult triage nurse team.

2.      Facilitate prompt communication of nursing assessments and recommendations to providers, team members, patients, and families to ensure all patient needs are met, through phone triage policies and procedures.

3.      Under the direction of a physician, instruct patients on emergent care, medications, and report patient response to treatment to physician.

4.      Communicate lab, test, and scan results to patients/families.

5.      Manage prescription refills under the direction of a physician.

6.      Document encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Essential Supervisory Functions

1.      Provide direct oversight and day-to-day leadership to the adult triage team to promote a sense of cohesiveness and effective team interactions across disciplines, while promoting efficient operations and positive patient experience and engagement.

2.      Scheduling of staff and coordination of services to maintain workflow continuity as appropriate to ensure adherence to quality standards, or best practice standards utilizing MASAC guidelines and WHF Hemophilia Management Guidelines, established IHI procedures, and timeline commitments.

3.      Oversee the training and instruction of new adult triage staff in job duties.

4.      In collaboration with the triage nurse manager, conduct performance reviews and year-end evaluations of assigned staff.

5.      First line resolution of patient concerns, complaints or questions regarding policies and procedures.

6.      Disaster point person, in coordination with the triage nurse manager and others re: safety and direction of patients and staff during fire, tornado, or other emergencies.

7. Works closely with the triage nurse manager and Director of Clinical Programs- Nursing on clinic operational issues related to revision of policy and procedure, budget, resources, communication, and proactive QI/PI development, implementation, and outcome evaluation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience of collaborative chronic disease patient care, required; 1 year of hematology experience, preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year nursing leadership experience preferred.
  • Valid RN license, able to practice in the state of Indiana, and current BLS certification.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance is required. Occasional travel may be required.
  • All IHI employees are expected to enable multi-factor authentication via their personal smart phone/smart device in order to access IHI systems as a requirement of the role. 

This role requires routine presence at our office in Indianapolis, IN. Candidates must be local and able to be in office as needed.
