We are seeking a Material Manager to work at our Charlotte, NC facility. A Material Manager: supervises and controls the flow of materials into, through, and out of their assigned plant(s) and the associated warehouses for those plants. Controls purchasing practices to support plant production and stock levels. Coordinates with the shipping department to ensure accurate on time receipt & delivery of goods to support plant service levels. Takes ownership of all assigned inventories through the leading of physical inventory and cycle counting initiatives. Promotes awareness of key metrics to foster improvement. As a Material Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Reviews and maintains SAP material master data for completeness and integrity to ensure adherence to INX policy and protocol.
- Ensures the effective execution of material delivery and replenishment strategies to support the master schedule & inventory metric health.
- Prepares, verifies, and submits records such as material requisitions and inventory reports as required.
- Maintains and executes all activities related to the Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) process for procured materials.
- Executes activities related to the cycle count program and annual physical inventory.
- Engages in best inventory practices related to purchase order management, management of inventory levels to budget, cycle counts, disposition of aged and obsolete materials, Non/Critical Availability & overall health across the plant’s inventory portfolio.
- Works with the warehouse team to ensure proper stock rotation activities (such as first-in-first-out) are occurring regularly.
- Maintains knowledge of available warehousing space to develop appropriate scheduling of material handling activities.
- Confers with supervisors of other departments to coordinate the flow of materials or products. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping materials or supplies. Promotes and maintains a high level of care of all inventories in the plant.
- Supervises the aging and turns of inventory and works with the appropriate parties to get non-turning inventory to an appropriate disposition in a timely manner to alleviate warehouse congestion.
- Establishes and maintains points of contact with suppliers/supplying plants. Actively communicate to maintain high visibility of the flow of materials into and out of the plant.
- Generates purchase order requisitions and submits them for timely processing to the purchase processing center. Reviews open purchase orders for change notices and engages in any necessary escalation activities related to supplier/vendor lack of performance to ensure supply continuity.
- Confers with department supervisors to determine overdue material and parts and inform supervisors of material status.
- Initiates and manages the Returned Goods Authorization process for any materials being returned to vendor.
- Collaborates with Procurement on the execution and monitoring of any vendor consignments and/or floor stocking agreements.
- Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels. Assists production in root cause analysis on process order variances.
- Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records. Analyzes inventory records and recommends or executes remedial actions as needed.
- Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials. Records and maintains perpetual inventory of quantity and type of materials and parts received, stocked and distributed.
- Addresses all concerns in a timely manner, including but not limited to material, equipment, and process.
- Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement teams and projects as required.
- Recommends improvements to reduce costs and drive productivity within the department while achieving corporate & site-specific goals.
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.

Must be committed to supporting the Continuous Improvement activities of all pillars as they are deployed and maintained in their work area or department. Work area and environment will be maintained according to the 5S guidelines and the 5S Best Practices at the respective facilities
- Must be willing and available to work additional hours per day or per week as the employer determines whether it is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
