Role Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides high-quality pre-hospital and emergency care to patients on-site and during transit prior to transportation to a healthcare facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition and rapidly manage injuries or acute illnesses at the scene.

  • Work closely with paramedics, nurses, and advanced life support teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.

  • Manage emergency patients brought in for treatment and liaise with other medical staff to ensure continuity of care and professional clinical handover.

  • Ensure all medical records and patient documentation are accurately maintained in line with organizational policies, national regulations, and international legislation.

  • Carry out immediate evaluation and management of emergency patients presented for treatment in strict accordance with established clinical guidelines and ethical standards.

  • Liaise with multidisciplinary medical personnel to guarantee patient safety, continuity of care, and staff operational safety.

  • Support clinical mentoring, training initiatives, and skills development for on-site staff.

  • Maintain best practices in alignment with clinical guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Support the clinical excellence and quality assurance frameworks under the direction of medical leadership.

  • Coordinate with external emergency services and healthcare agencies to promote chain-of-care continuity during professional referrals.

  • Undergo and successfully complete a comprehensive site-specific induction upon arrival.

  • Observe and strictly adhere to standard Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols for all clinical procedures, sharps disposal, ambulance sanitation, and clinical waste management.

  • Adhere to organizational policies regarding workplace conduct, including zero-tolerance policies for alcohol and drug use while on site.

  • Maintain personal clinical competence through regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and the utilization of best practice principles.
