We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Structures Engineer - Strength Analyst to join our growing team. In this critical role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and safety of our cutting-edge spacecraft systems. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Structures Engineer - Strength Analyst to join our growing team. In this critical role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and safety of our cutting-edge spacecraft systems. You'll work alongside a passionate team of engineers and scientists who are dedicated to making sustainable lunar exploration a reality.

Key Responsiblities

  • Conduct structural analysis for lunar lander systems in a rapid development environment.
  • Create finite element models (FEM) from scratch while working with other members of the structures team to iterate designs which result in positive component qualification margins.
  • Validate analytical models with application of industry standard first principles and hand calculations.
  • Develop customized tools to expedite bolt/joint, fatigue, stability analysis, and preparation of margins of safety per NASA and aerospace industry standards.
  • Thoroughly document analyses in terms of key assumptions, methods, and conclusions
  • Analyze for damage tolerance, durability, design allowable and structural modeling
  • Collaborate with members of other departmental teams, such as systems engineering, quality, assembly, integration and test.
  • Create and manage supplier statements of work
  • Build on the existing analysis’s team culture with industry best practices and lessons learned

Basic Requirements

  • 8+ years of aerospace industry experience, ideally with space companies
  • Experience with static, thermal deformation, sine, random, and vibroacoustic analysis
  • Experience with interpretation of dynamic environments and structural margins for structural performance improvements.
  • Extensive experience with FEM pre/post processors and NASTRAN (or equivalent) solvers.
  • Knowledgeable in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
  • Has knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Knowledgeable of composite materials, sandwich panel construction, and analysis
  • Proven track record building analytical models, processing data, and presenting recommendations to the broader team to support verification efforts
  • Knowledgeable about mechanical design, material selection, and fabrication processes for spaceflight hardware including composite systems
  • BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering, will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
  • Experience with common industry standards for spacecraft structural and mechanical design, test and integration; including, but not limited to, GEVS, NASA-STD-5001, NASA-STD-5017, NASA-STD-5020 & SMC-S-016
  • Familiarity with project management tools, including Atlassian

What Makes You Stand Out!

  • 10+ years of aerospace industry experience, ideally in spacecraft development programs
  • Proficient with Nastran and Simcenter 3D/FEMAP
  • Knowledgeable of Nastran DMAP
  • Proficient with structural dynamics and strength analysis and failure mode identification
  • Experience preparing and submitting spacecraft models for coupled loads analysis
  • Experience generating flexible body models
  • Experience conducting Finite element model correlation to test data
  • Experience conducting structural test campaigns as part of the test pyramid
  • Experience of composite sandwich panel materials, construction, and analysis
  • MS in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education
