In this hybrid role, you will combine hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable cloud-native solutions. You will partner closely with technical leads to ensure architectural strategies translate into high-quality execution, while managing and mentoring a team of engineers to foster growth, collaboration, and career development. This position requires balancing individual contribution with people management, guiding teams across multiple projects, and ensuring adherence to best practices in DevSecOps, accessibility, and cybersecurity. You will work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment supporting a critical modernization program with significant impact.

Accountabilities:

  • Contribute directly as a hands-on engineer, designing, building, and reviewing secure cloud-native applications.
  • Partner with technical leadership to ensure architecture is implemented effectively and delivery objectives are met.
  • Manage Agile practices, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement, to maintain team alignment and velocity.
  • Lead and mentor 3–5 engineers, providing technical oversight, career guidance, and workload management.
  • Promote best practices for DevSecOps, automated testing, Section 508 accessibility, and OWASP security standards.
  • Serve as a liaison across product, design, DevOps, and QA teams to ensure smooth collaboration and delivery.
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture where engineers can thrive and succeed.

Requirements

  • Public Trust Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain the required background investigation.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineers.
  • Proven ability to deliver as an individual contributor while leading a team.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-native environments (AWS preferred), CI/CD pipelines, and secure coding practices.
  • Familiarity with federal IT compliance requirements, including ATO, accessibility, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Experience with multiple technology stacks such as React, Next.js, Node.js, Go, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated success in building team culture, mentoring engineers, and supporting career development.
  • Remote work capability with up to 10% travel.
