On-Board Software Engineer - (9-month contract) - Remote EU

As an On-Board Software Engineer, you will work on advanced satellite-based systems that support positioning, connectivity, Earth observation, and space exploration. You will play a key role in defining software architecture, specifications, and development cycles for real-time embedded systems, collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, and validation teams. Your contributions will impact cutting-edge space technologies and help deliver solutions for both terrestrial and orbital applications. Working in an Agile environment, you will also contribute to technical documentation, milestone reviews, and bid proposals, gaining exposure to international space projects and advanced engineering practices. This contract position provides the opportunity to work remotely while being part of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team.

Accountabilities:

• Define software specifications derived from system requirements and develop embedded software architectures.
• Monitor and manage the entire embedded software development cycle.
• Prioritize, assign, and coordinate software development activities following Agile methodology.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, firmware, and validation teams to ensure integrated solutions.
• Lead the creation of technical documentation and participate in software development milestones with clients.
• Contribute to bid proposals and support project planning and delivery activities.

Requirements

• Degree in Software Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar technical discipline. Advanced degrees are a plus.
• At least 5 years of experience in real-time embedded software development.
• Strong knowledge of the V-model development cycle and embedded system concepts.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and ECSS processes.
• Ability to understand complete system architecture including embedded software components.
• Excellent English communication skills; additional fluency in Spanish or French is an advantage.
• Strong teamwork, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
