This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on engineering with field-based technical service in packaging development across food, beverage, and consumer goods manufacturing environments. You will support packaging trials, validate components, optimize processes, and collaborate closely with development teams, plant engineers, and suppliers to ensure products are production-ready. The position involves frequent travel to manufacturing sites and provides exposure to cutting-edge packaging technologies, equipment, and materials. Ideal candidates are highly technical, enjoy problem-solving on the plant floor, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You will contribute to product improvement initiatives while gaining experience across packaging systems and process optimization.
Accountabilities
- Lead on-site packaging trials, including equipment setup, material qualification, and performance testing.
- Conduct and analyze package performance tests for manufacturability, compliance, and reliability.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations summarizing trial results and improvement recommendations.
- Support equipment installation, validation, and troubleshooting on packaging and blow-molding lines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, operations, quality) to ensure readiness for full-scale production.
- Execute Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analyses to optimize processes and packaging systems.
- Maintain packaging test equipment and ensure adherence to internal and industry standards (ASTM, ISTA).
Requirements
- 1–5 years of experience in packaging engineering, field service, or plant operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical trade school experience.
- Hands-on experience with packaging equipment, blow molding, or PET packaging development.
- Familiarity with ASTM and ISTA testing methods.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Nice-to-Haves: experience with package testing instruments (drop, burst, leak, compression), knowledge of GMP, FDA, or ISO packaging standards, and exposure to CPG or food and beverage manufacturing environments.
