Workday Trainer (Freelance Position)

Role Overview
The Workday Trainer has as a primary responsibility the design, development, and delivery of training programs to support the effective adoption and utilization of the Workday platform across the organization. While the main focus is on Workday HCM and related modules, the role ensures that employees, managers, and stakeholders gain the knowledge and skills needed to maximize the value of the system. Depending on organizational needs, the Workday Trainer may also contribute to broader training initiatives beyond Workday.
Key Responsibilities
Training Program Development
- Collaborates with subject matter experts to identify training needs across Workday modules (e.g., HCM, Advanced Compensation, Recruiting, Talent).
- Designs and develops engaging training materials, including presentations, user guides, e-learning modules, and hands-on exercises.
- Adapts training content to address different audiences and functional areas.
Delivery of Training
- Conducts instructor-led and virtual training sessions for employees, managers, and possible other stakeholders.
- Delivers tailored training to different user groups, ensuring accessibility and effectiveness.
- Facilitates drop-in sessions, demos, and workshops as part of ongoing adoption.
Documentation
- In collaboration with the HRIS team and the SMEs, creates and maintains comprehensive training documentation and knowledge resources.
- Ensures materials are updated in line with Workday releases and organizational changes. And are translated into the required languages.
User Support
- Provides post-training assistance, addressing questions and supporting users in applying their learning.
- Partners with HRIS team and SMEs to resolve user queries and ensure alignment with system processes.
Continuous Improvement
- Keeps up to date with new Workday features, functionality, and best practices.
- Gathers and analyzes participant feedback to improve training design and delivery.
- Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives in training and change management.
- In collaboration with the HRIS team, ensure the Training Tenant is always up to date and ready for any training need.
Collaboration
- Works closely with P&C and business leaders to align training with organizational needs.
- Collaborates with other trainers or learning teams on broader learning and development projects.
Evaluation
- Implements assessment mechanisms to measure training effectiveness.
- Uses performance data and feedback to refine training content and delivery approaches.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human Resources, Information Technology, Education).
- Proven experience as a Workday Trainer or in a similar training role.
- Solid knowledge of Workday HCM; exposure to other modules (e.g., Compensation, Talent, Recruiting) is strongly preferred.
- Experience in instructional design and adult learning methodologies.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to tailor training to different audiences and skill levels.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Workday certification(s) are an advantage.
