Overview of Opportunity

This is a critical, high-impact leadership role within one of the nation’s largest and most respected healthcare providers. The Assistant Nurse Director, Intermediate Care will play a key role in supporting the overall direction of the Medical-Surgical and Telemetry (Intermediate Care) units within a major acute care hospital. This facility is known for high-acuity services, including being the region's only designated Trauma Center, performing a high volume of surgeries, and managing significant Emergency Department visits.

The Assistant Nurse Director will be responsible for translating the strategic vision of the Nursing Director into daily operational success, focusing on exceptional patient outcomes, staff development, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

1. Clinical and Quality Leadership

  • Oversight: Provide clinical and operational oversight for the Intermediate Care (Med/Surg and Telemetry) units, ensuring the delivery of compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Standards and Compliance: Ensure the highest standards of patient safety, quality care, and strict regulatory compliance with TJC, CMS, and state licensing agencies.
  • Process Improvement: Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives within the units to enhance patient outcomes, reduce readmissions, and improve efficiency.

2. Operational Management

  • Workflow and Patient Flow: Manage daily workflow, staffing assignments, and patient flow dynamics to optimize unit productivity and resource utilization.
  • Budget Support: Assist in the effective management of the unit budget, focusing on supply management and labor productivity.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation practices are followed in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory guidelines.

3. Team Leadership and Development

  • Staff Management: Directly manage, mentor, and lead nursing staff (RNs) and clinical support teams, fostering an environment of accountability and professional growth.
  • Training: Identify educational needs and facilitate ongoing training and competency validation for staff related to Med/Surg, Telemetry, and Intermediate Care standards.
  • Performance: Conduct performance evaluations, manage conflict resolution, and support a positive, collaborative culture.
