An outstanding opportunity exists for an experienced, senior government professional to lead our client relationships across the Federal Government. Working closely with our Client Lead Partner for the Federal Government, you will provide direct leadership to a small team coordinating our work across KPMG and the Australian Public Service to enable our business within KPMG’s Infrastructure, Government, and Healthcare (IGH) Industry Group.

Your Opportunity:

As the Senior Relationship Director and key support role to the Account Lead Partner, you will be responsible for engaging closely with our public sector clients (including Federal agencies and local authorities) and our internal teams to tailor KPMG offerings and solutions, expertise, and best practise proposals for our Federal Government clients to support in delivering their key programs and services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Applying your understanding and experience within the Federal Government to identify opportunities for KPMG to work with or support the Federal Government in conjunction with the Account Leadership Group.
  • Identifying client reform priorities and leading the development of key solutions and innovative approaches to support clients overcome complex challenges and deliver on business and reform objectives.
  • Managing and inputting into proposal processes for major projects, including contributing to high-quality, tailored written materials that articulate our client’s requirements, demonstrate KPMG’s sector and client understanding, and ensure client objectives and perspectives are central to the process.
  • Deploying strategic and commercial advice throughout the pricing, contracting, and negotiation procurement phases to ensure our proposition is articulated clearly and aligned with client and KPMG objectives.
  • Leading an account management team and supporting the Client Lead Partner with the development and delivery of strategic business planning activities.
  • Contributing as a member of the national IGH Leadership team and sharing insights and knowledge across the IGH community.

Your Experience:

  • Preferably 8+ years’ experience working with the federal government with recent experience at the senior leadership/executive level.
  • Demonstrated probity and integrity and an alignment to KPMG values.
  • Strong understanding of public sector policy priorities and processes for working with the Federal Government/public sector.
  • Ability to work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including at senior levels.
  • Highly developed communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including an ability to drive a culture of excellence and service orientation across teams.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and team building skills
  • A strong understanding of business development approaches for government
  • Ability to manage multiple competing objectives in a high-tempo environment
  • Ideally, a proven track record in a business development or relationship management role
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • A minimum baseline level security clearance is essential
