Job Overview

KPMG Australia’s United States Business Practice provides a comprehensive local service supporting US–Australia cross-border accounting, capital markets and finance function needs. We help Australian and US companies navigate complex US GAAP/IFRS, SEC reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements across capital markets transactions and M&A activity.

We are seeking a Manager to support clients through capital markets transactions, M&A buy-side and sell-side engagements, and carve-outs, with a strong focus on US GAAP/IFRS conversions, US public company readiness and SOX compliance. This role combines deep technical accounting expertise with project leadership and cross-border collaboration.

What you’ll do

  • From an accounting advisory aspect lead and deliver capital markets readiness engagements, supporting US IPOs, SPAC transactions and US debt or bond offerings
  • Support M&A buy-side and sell-side transactions, including accounting due diligence, transaction accounting and post-deal reporting considerations
  • Support on carve-outs and divestitures, including separation accounting, historical financial information, and readiness for standalone reporting
  • Provide US GAAP and IFRS technical accounting advisory, including accounting conversions, complex transaction accounting and accounting change programs
  • Support SEC reporting and public company readiness, including identification of information gaps, readiness assessments and ongoing reporting support
  • Design, implement and support SOX compliance programs, including control design, documentation, remediation and ongoing compliance
  • Manage end-to-end engagement delivery, including planning, resourcing, budgets and risk management
  • Work closely with KPMG US and global teams to deliver coordinated cross-border outcomes
  • Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, including CFOs, Controllers and finance leadership
  • Coach and develop team members, contributing to a strong technical and performance-focused culture

Skills and experience

  • Strong experience in US GAAP, IFRS or technical accounting advisory, ideally within a consulting or professional services environment
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions, including buy-side, sell-side or carve-out engagements
  • Exposure to capital markets transactions such as IPOs, SPACs, M&A, divestitures or US debt offerings
  • Exposure to SEC reporting and public company environments
  • Practical knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Ability to translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into practical, commercial advice
  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching and mentoring
  • Professional qualifications such as CA or CPA (or equivalent) are required

What we offer

  • The opportunity to work on high-profile US capital markets and M&A engagements
  • Access to KPMG’s global US and international network
  • A collaborative, inclusive culture with a strong focus on technical excellence and development
  • Flexible working arrangements and wellbeing support
  • Competitive remuneration and benefits
