Junior Risk Compliance Officer

- The JRCO supports the MRC and Assistant Risk Compliance Officer (ARCO) in holding executive responsibility for the risk management function of the firm, including quality and risk monitoring
- Supports MRC in developing a risk management process which is aligned with the firm’s engagement quality initiatives and system of quality management.
- Demonstrates a strong tone and culture supporting engagement quality through communication, engagement support and commitment to maintain objectivity, professional skepticism, ethics and integrity.
Portfolio Management
Assist with design, implementation and maintain policies and processes designed to provide reasonable assurance that in the acceptance and continuance of clients and engagements:
- minimize the likelihood of association with a client whose management lacks integrity.
- The firm undertakes only those engagements that it can reasonably expect to complete with professional competence.
- the firm appropriately considers the risks associated with providing professional services in the particular circumstances; and
- The work performed conforms with professional standards
- Assist with monitoring that the firm as a whole has the capacity to manage the client portfolio and maintain engagement quality, including the required capacity from cross-divisional/ group specialists, as appropriate
- Participate in designing, implementing and maintaining processes that provide reasonable assurance that client-initiated partner changes on engagements are not for the purpose of and do not impact the objectivity, impartiality or professional skepticism of engagement team personnel
- Refuse to take on or continue work that does not fit with firm capabilities or risk management criteria
Resource Management
- Assist with designing, implementing, and maintaining policies and processes that provide reasonable assurance that the firm’s professionals are aware of and comply with applicable requirements regarding Continuing Professional Education and Licensure
- Participate in designing, implementing and maintaining a program that provides reasonable assurance that the firm has established structures, reporting lines, and appropriate authorities and responsibilities, including assigning operational responsibility for the system of quality management
- Assist with establishing policies and procedures to communicate firm and individual independence requirements
- Assist with establishing processes to identify and evaluate independence circumstances in accordance with the professional standards and regulatory requirements
Monitoring and Quality Initiatives
- Assist with the design, implementation and maintenance of policies and processes and other engagement quality monitoring programs (as appropriate) that employ procedures designed to assess whether engagement teams have complied with the firm’s policies and processes related to: (i) independence, integrity, and objectivity; (ii) personnel management; (iii) acceptance and continuance of clients; and (iv) engagement performance
- Perform the Risk Management monitoring programs, (independence, integrity, and objectivity; personnel management; engagement performance; partner change; client continuance/acceptance processes; and compliance with Continuing Professional Education and Licensure requirements), along with other relevant observations, provide feedback (results, observations, etc.) into the firm’s Root Cause Analysis or to other relevant stakeholders
- Assist with the design, implement and maintain policies and processes policies and processes designed to provide reasonable assurance that the risk assessment process for the Firm will continue to comply with applicable requirements of firm and professional standards as they are developed by the firm in connection with the implementation of ISQM1 and related professional standards
