WHAT WILL YOUR DAYS LOOK LIKE AT LGI HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS?

The Senior Director, R&D – Clinical Solutions is responsible for the execution and operational performance of LGI’s clinical portfolio (15+ products spanning multiple technology stacks), while contributing to portfolio and architectural decisions through close collaboration with Product, Architecture, and the Chief R&D Officer.

Reporting to the Chief R&D Officer, you will lead four R&D managers and oversee more than 60 employees (internal and consultants). You will align engineering with corporate priorities, ensure disciplined execution, and continuously improve productivity, quality, and scalability.

You are accountable for measurable production performance, ensuring that our clinical solutions remain reliable, secure, and high-performing when it matters most: in real care environments where stability and speed directly impact care delivery.

HOW WILL YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS BE VALUED?

Strategic Leadership and Vision

  • Define and execute the clinical R&D strategy aligned with corporate priorities.
  • Collaborate with Architecture and Product leaders to guide technology choices; highlight risks, options, and investment proposals related to technical debt, modernization, and sustainability.
  • Support executive decision-making by clearly structuring trade-offs (innovation, risk, cost, timelines, and long-term value).

Operational Excellence and Impact

  • Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery across the portfolio.
  • Establish a KPI cadence covering delivery, productivity, defects, and production performance.
  • Strengthen monitoring, release discipline, and incident management to reduce defects.
  • Deploy tools, automation, and practices that increase engineering efficiency.

Organization and Talent

  • Design and evolve the organization to maximize impact and alignment.
  • Translate corporate objectives into measurable team targets and manage performance rigorously.
  • Maintain high engagement while addressing underperformance firmly.
  • Proactively develop the capabilities required to achieve portfolio objectives through strategic workforce planning, succession management, targeted hiring, and continuous skills development.
  • Reduce single points of failure through documentation and cross-training.

AI as a Strategic Accelerator

  • Promote responsible and measurable adoption of AI tools to increase engineering productivity.
  • Identify, pilot, and scale high-impact AI use cases, with clear success metrics and risk control mechanisms.
