Job Overview

Role Summary:

The Faransia Cold Store Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the full operation of cold storage facility (Faransia) for fruits and vegetables, with a key focus on handling and preserving Medjool dates. This role ensures that all storage processes are executed efficiently, maintaining optimal temperature and humidity conditions to safeguard product quality. The Faransia Cold Store Manager coordinates daily operations including receiving, storing, inventory control, dispatching, maintenance of refrigeration systems, and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. The Faransia Cold Store Manager is also responsible for overseeing the rental of cold storage space to external parties, ensuring effective space utilization, rental agreement management, and customer satisfaction. The position plays a vital role during seasonal peaks, especially during the date harvest, and works closely with internal departments and external clients to maintain reliable and compliant cold chain operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1- Cold Store Operations Management  

  • Oversee day-to-day cold storage operations for fruits and vegetables, with special attention to the proper handling of Medjool dates.
  • Monitor and control storage conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow) to ensure optimal product preservation.
  • Implement and supervise First-In First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices.
  • Coordinate the receiving, storing, and dispatching of goods in alignment with production, packaging, and logistics schedules. 

2- External Storage Rental Management  

  • Promote and manage the rental of available cold storage spaces to third-party clients.
  • Negotiate rental terms, issue contracts, and ensure all external customers adhere to facility’s hygiene, safety, and operational protocols.
  • Plan and allocate space to maximize storage efficiency while balancing internal and external demands.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external clients regarding cold storage services and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.  

3- Quality, Hygiene & Compliance  

  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO, BRC, NAFSA).
  • Conduct routine inspections of storage conditions and stored products to identify and address any quality or safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records for traceability, batch management, and audit readiness.  

4- Equipment & Facility Management

  • Supervise the proper functioning, preventive maintenance, and repair of refrigeration units, temperature monitoring systems, and cold store infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with technical and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and respond to operational issues promptly.
  • Ensure power backup systems and environmental controls are consistently reliable.

5- Inventory & Documentation

  • Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring stock accuracy, proper labeling, and full traceability of stored goods.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all incoming and outgoing products, both internal and external.

6- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure safety procedures for working in low-temperature environments and ensure appropriate use of PPE.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to storage, equipment, and operational practices.
  • Lead emergency preparedness planning for issues such as power failure, refrigeration breakdown, or product contamination

7- Team Leadership & Development  

  • Manage and train cold store staff including forklift operators, storekeepers, finance controllers, Security and sanitation personnel.  
  • Develop shift schedules, assign responsibilities, and monitor team performance.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture engineering or food science
  • Sadat city or nearby residents.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in cold storage or warehouse operations, preferably in food and agriculture industry.
  • Proven experience in managing cold chain logistics for fresh products, especially temperature-sensitive products like dates, fruits, and vegetables.
  • Solid background in refrigeration systems management.
  • Experience in handling third-party cold storage rental operations.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO22000, BRC).
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of team development and performance management
