Technical Program Manager – Data Science Portfolio Management

The organization is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to oversee and drive execution across a portfolio of data science initiatives. This role blends program management, analytical leadership, and cross‑functional coordination to ensure data‑driven decision‑making and maximize the impact of data science investments.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Oversight & Strategic Alignment

  • Lead visibility, prioritization, and execution across a portfolio of operational and transformative data science initiatives.

  • Partner with leadership to define long‑term plans, strategic priorities, and critical focus areas.

  • Align technical roadmaps with organizational OKRs and business objectives.

  • Prepare and deliver portfolio‑level summaries, milestone updates, and success metrics to leadership.

Project Intake & Resource Management

  • Develop and refine processes for project intake, prioritization, and resource allocation.

  • Balance resources across multiple teams and initiatives to optimize throughput.

  • Monitor deadlines, identify bottlenecks, and drive improvements to reduce delays and increase delivery efficiency.

Analytical Leadership

  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to extract insights from structured and unstructured data.

  • Guide teams in analytical design, modeling approaches, and data visualization best practices.

  • Leverage emerging quantitative tools and methodologies to enhance research quality and decision‑making.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong partnerships with engineering, data science, and cross‑functional stakeholders.

  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions to define focus areas and align on priorities.

  • Ensure consistent communication and messaging across teams and leadership groups.

Operational Excellence

  • Track progress toward key results and ensure commitments are met.

  • Provide ongoing support for production incidents, requests, and operational needs.

  • Drive continuous improvements in systems, processes, and tools to enhance portfolio performance.

  • Maintain documentation, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms for portfolio visibility.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in data science, analytics, technical program management, or portfolio management.

  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to drive organizational priorities.

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis, modeling, and visualization.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

  • Ability to operate autonomously in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments.

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and cross‑functional initiatives.

  • Familiarity with data science workflows and tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Tableau).

  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Jira, Asana).

About the Team

This role supports a PMO within a rapidly growing data science organization. The team operates in a dynamic environment characterized by constant change, expanding portfolios, and increasing demand for data‑driven insights.

Location: Remote (PST preferred)

Role type: Contract 9 Month Position 

Expected hours: 40 per week

  • Monday to Friday (Extended schedule as needed Saturday-Sunday)
