Are you ready to play a pivotal role in supporting the world’s most advanced laser facility? We are seeking a dynamic Laser and Alignment Systems (LASE) Integration Manager to join the National Ignition Facility and Photon Sciences (NIF&PS) programs. In this critical position, you will lead the schedule and technical integration of LASE activities across NIF sections and projects, ensuring that all LASE work is seamlessly planned, coordinated, and executed to support the mission of NIF. As the primary point of contact for LASE integration, you will manage interfaces and risks, foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, and help drive the continued success of this world-class facility. This position is in the Laser Systems Engineering & Operations (LSEO) Division within the Engineering Directorate.
This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
In this role, you will
- Lead teams, programs, or functions with a technical focus, operate under consultative direction with substantial authority, use subject matter expertise and significant team leadership experience, and exercise judgment within established policies to monitor workflow, allocate resources, ensure timely completion of projects, independently determine strategies, and achieve objectives while managing organizational impact and pursuing actions to achieve long-term goals.
- Manage the integration (schedule and technical) and execution of LASE work across NIF sections and projects, ensuring alignment with NIF operational needs and priorities.
- Define and clarify the scope for LASE activities, partnering with NIF Section Managers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure clear objectives, deliverables, and interfaces with other NIF systems and projects.
- Maintain and manage the integrated master schedule for the LASE section, ensuring that dependencies, constraints, and priorities are identified, communicated, and coordinated across NIF sections and projects.
- Perform risk analysis (such as FMEA) for LASE activities and interfaces, and implement risk mitigations in collaboration with section managers, project teams, and system managers.
- Lead and coordinate the LASE reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) program, including defining and tracking RAM metrics, conducting RAM reviews, and integrating RAM considerations into planning and execution across NIF sections.
- Manage the LASE reliability program, including planning and conducting system manager training, coordinating and reviewing maintenance plans, and ensuring alignment of maintenance strategies with LASE performance and availability objectives.
- Identify and coordinate with the appropriate organizations the support from work teams and resources required for each phase of LASE activities, including personnel and equipment needs, while ensuring that LASE scope is clearly understood, appropriately represented, and effectively prioritized.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for LASE integration, representing LASE at planning and coordination meetings, ensuring that LASE scope and priorities are communicated and understood, and escalating gaps in planning and execution as needed.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement through regular meetings with section managers, planners, system managers, and appropriate project teams to clarify roles, processes, integration needs, and priorities for LASE, and solicit feedback for continuous improvement.
