Are you passionate about delivering compassionate, person-centred care to individuals at the end of life? Marie Curie is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistants to join our community-based overnight service in Lanarkshire.
In this vital role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing holistic support to patients and those close to them. Working overnight in patients’ homes, you will ensure comfort, dignity and continuity of care during one of life’s most profound journeys. Your presence will offer reassurance and skilled care when it’s needed most, helping families feel supported throughout the night.

What you will be doing:
- Access visit schedules and patient details via the electronic tablet system at the start of each shift.
- Contact patients and their families prior to arrival to confirm the visit and provide reassurance.
- Attend patients’ homes and communicate effectively with both the patient and their loved ones, as well as liaise with the out-of-hours clinical service.
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care tailored to individual needs, including:
- pain and symptom management, pressure area care and monitoring and supporting fluid intake.
- Accurately document all care provided and observations in the patient’s electronic records.
- Work independently on a one-to-one basis within the patient’s home, ensuring safety, dignity and professionalism at all times.
- Provide overnight support to a single patient, offering companionship and monitoring for any signs of deterioration.
- Escalate any concerns or changes in the patient’s condition to the out-of-hours service promptly.
- Deliver sensitive and respectful care following a patient’s death, including personal care and preparation of the body.
- Notify the out-of-hours service in the event of a patient passing during the night and complete all required documentation.
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience delivering care in a health or social care setting
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards this qualification
- A nurturing and compassionate approach, with excellent communication skills
- The ability to work independently while being an integral part of a multidisciplinary team
